Semmering Railway World Heritage Site – experience a technical masterpiece

The information center at Semmering station invites you on a journey through time and technology. Discover the history and fascination of Europe’s first mountain railway, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.

Original plans, historical tools, and lovingly crafted models of the imposing viaducts and tunnels demonstrate the pioneering spirit with which the railway was built. In the media room, you can learn exciting facts about the region and experience the journey on the Semmering Railway from the driver’s cab of a locomotive.

A special highlight for railway enthusiasts: specialist literature, historical posters, and souvenirs are available on site.
